Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, Sleeps 6
Stunning Mountain Log Home...Extraordinary Views, nights by the fire, or just relaxing in the hot tub. Great dining in the town of Clayton.
Welcome to Enchantment!
We are so pleased you are considering our cabin for your vacation rental. It is a very special place we think you'll always remember.
Camp High Harbour is just a short drive away and offers parents dropping off or visiting their children a wonderful cabin in the woods setting close by.
We call the house ENCHANTMENT...for it is a place of wonder and magic.
Soaring two story windows provide unforgettable lake and mountain views and each day brings a mystery of constantly changing vistas... haunting mists rise from the lake, crystal clear skies light each mountain ridge, and bears and deer have all been seen here.
The house is a true (three story) log cabin with extraordinary views from every level and furnished so each and every piece would belong to the house. From the huge four poster Aspen bed made in Colorado for the 'Gone Fishin' room to the handmade switchplates done by a potter to a dining fixture of twigs and crystals that make you think of lights in the forest...it is all as if it was always there, part of the land and the mountains.
The Great Room with its soaring two story windows has a floor to ceiling stacked stone fireplace (and yes it's woodburning). A comfortable leather sectional with a chaise faces both the fireplace and a 46' HDTV with DirecTV satellite reception. A special real Antler mirror above the fireplace, stunning Birch accents, and a spectacular cowhide chair all compliment this special setting.
The Master bedroom with its own master bath is on the main level and has a Queen bed. The upstairs' bedrooms all have Queen beds and each has a flat screen TV with Satellite reception. You'll wonder at how spacious the bedrooms are.
The kitchen is very large, fully equipped, and offers new stainless steel Samsung appliances as well as a separate beverage cooler (New Kitchen photos coming).
For your convenience, the cabin has wireless internet.
You'll also love the massive deck on the view side of the house. A huge outdoor table for eight lets you dine in the tall trees that surround it with a view that will take your breath away. And when night falls, the stars are as bright as diamonds. Just lean back and star gaze in a sparkling hot tub set in a private alcove on the deck (magnificent trees all around).
Rather not have the sun, there are two covered areas on the deck with an outdoor ceiling fan to keep you cool and comfortable...And don't forget your 'grillin' hat. There's a large outdoor gas grill. For lazy days when you just want to stay put, sit awhile on the front porch in one of the comfortable rocking chairs. Nature's serenade will amaze you.
The setting is private and secluded on 3.2 acres adjacent to the USFS. The National Forest and hiking are virtually just outside the cabin. (Note: For those interested in hiking on the Appalachian Trail, it's just minutes down the road).
The cabin has plenty of parking, and a paved driveway. Also, while the property is secluded, it is only a short distance to the town of Clayton and the wonderful stores and restaurants nearby.
An amazing waterfall trail is about 10 to 15 minutes away, across from Moccasin Creek State Park on 197. (Stop in at the Ranger office in the Park for more information on this and other trails. Canoes are also available for rent there).
A little further down on 197 is La Prade's Marina. Go tubing or rent a pontoon boat! You'll also enjoy the casual elegance of the indoor/outdoor dining at The Chophouse restaurant at LaPrade's. It's reasonably priced, with a lovely view of Lake Burton and good food.
Also just minutes away from our cabin is The Waterfall Club. Kingwood Golf Course, a public course, is about 20 minutes away.
Here are some local dining tips: Try Sunday Diner in Clayton.
It is a southern experience with wonderful fried chicken, and other southern favorites. Don’t forget to ask for their biscuits.
For special dining, you'll love the wonderful ambiance, setting, and farm to table food at Clayton's award winning "Fortify" restaurant. For more casual dining try Fortify's sister restaurant, Fortify PI right next door. The wood fired brick oven pizza there is amazing. Also The Farmhouse Restaurant at Persimmon Creek is very special with lovely farm to table dining.
We look forward to having you stay at Enchantment.
