Libellule (Dragonfly) Cottage is a recently converted 2 bedroom barn in Liboulas, a quiet hamlet overlooking the Gironde estuary, near the historic village of Talmont sur Gironde and just 5 miles from the nearest beaches at Meschers. The cottage shares the use of a large orchard garden with the owners' house next door. If you have young children, you'll find the 5 sheltered beaches at nearby Meschers ideal for your summer holiday. For older children, the long sandy beach at St Georges de Didonne (just fifteen minutes away) provides loads of waterports. Libellule is also a great base for out-of-season breaks. If you are a nature-lover, the birdlife and botany of the Gironde estuary is right at your door.

Libellule (Dragonfly) Cottage is a recently converted two bedroom barn in the quiet hamlet of Liboulas, just over a mile inland from the Gironde estuary and 5 miles from Meschers and its 5 sandy beaches.  The nearest village is Arces sur Gironde, one mile away, with a bakery and restaurant. The light, airy open plan living/dining/kitchen has a double height ceiling over the living area and is comfortably furnished with sofa & 2 armchairs, TV, DVD/CD player, amplifier & speakers. For rare rainy days, there is a small library of DVDs (English & French), novels, guide books, bird & plant guides. The dining table seats 4. French windows to the front and to the courtyard provide lots of light. The kitchen is well equipped with multi-function oven, gas hob, espresso machine, washer/dryer, dishwasher, & fridge-freezer. There is also a rice-cooker, a blender, coffee mill & kettle, as well as plenty of pans & cooking equipment, and cookery books. The fully-tiled ground floor bathroom has a deep bathtub for leisurely soaks, a separate shower and a heated towel rail.

We provide plenty of hand and bath towels, so that all you need to bring are beach towels. Stairs lead to a gallery landing – a safety gate is available for young children. Bedroom 1 is a twin room with 2 very comfortable futon beds, canvas wardrobe & drawer units; & a velux window for stargazing. As well as duvets & pillows, we provide bedlinen, with a mid-stay change for 2 week stays. The main bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, bedside cupboards & antique pine chest of drawers. It has windows overlooking both the garden and the courtyard. It has a large ensuite shower room with heated towel rail. Again, we provide bedlinen, and towels. Libellule has under-floor heating throughout, except in the twin bedroom which has an electric radiator. Good insulation & double glazing keep the cottage snug in the cooler months. The same insulation, together with the high ceilings keep the cottage cool in the summer heat.

Libellule has its own private gated courtyard with carport. There is access through to a further rear patio with garden furniture, and to the adjoining garden (shared with the owners’ house but only used by them when they are visiting for brief stays). There's plenty of lawn space for your children to play, or for you to relax in the hammock or on the loungers, whilst taking in the view down to the Gironde. Our roses & shrubs scent the air on warm summer evenings. In season you can help yourselves to cherries, plums, figs, apples & pears straight  from the tree & pick fresh herbs to flavour your cooking. There is parking for one car in the car port and further off-road parking is available in the owners’ driveway.
